I began a new research project today! I am working with a doctor in Idaho Falls who believes we can lower the chances of a woman contracting preeclamsia by 15%! I am excited to see what we uncover. I am going to be helping by collecting and sorting data from all women who had babies in Rexburg, Idaho from 2009 to 2011.
If you are looking for a research opportunity, I suggest asking some doctors that you are shadowing. They have many connections and there may be an MD, PHD in your area. Having a good research opportunity will expose you to different fields in medicine as well as increasing your chances of getting into a good school. Some medical schools, such as the University of Utah, require you to have a research experience of some kind. It is wise to look into your dream school's requirements as soon as you can.
I'll keep posting about my journey as well as my MCAT study plan which begins in two weeks! Have a great day and good luck!
